Mass Spectrometry: Applications to the Clinical Laboratory 2008
University of California, San Diego--School of Medicine
November 1-5, 2008
Mass Spectrometry: Applications to the Clinical Laboratory 2008 (MSACL '08) has been developed to provide scientists in the clinical laboratory a forum for in-depth and informal discussions of the most recent developments in the practical application of mass spectrometry to analyses previously done by various other technologies such as immunoassays. While these immunoassay methods have been successful for the last 50 years, mass spectrometry methods are now providing these analytical results in a better, faster and less expensive fashion. Innovative mass spectrometry technologies, alone and combined with molecular methods have lead to improved diagnostic testing approaches. At this time large reference laboratories and major medical centers have demonstrated that this approach leads to more accurate testing which results in improved patient care and reduced costs. This conference will focus on the practical applications of mass spectrometry to the clinical chemistry/toxicology, microbiology/virology, proteomic, metabolomic and tissue histology laboratories. In addition to the current technologies, issues of regulation, standardization, validation and quality control will be addressed.

9th Annual HIV/AIDS Conference "New Therapies, New Patient Populations and New Global Challenges"
Cedars-Sinai Medical CenterSeptember 26, 2008
The history of HIV/AIDS is short in comparison to other devastating diseases. It has, however, exploded into a global academic in a relatively short time; no one can claim ignorance of this global pandemic. It claims African orphans, adolescents, the incarcerated and the elderly. Keeping abreast of currently developing information and treatments are vital in the management of HIV/AIDS.
The 9th Annual HIV/AIDS conference will provide physicians and allied healthcare professionals an environment to explore challenges of HIV infection in a variety of populations including developing countries, adolescent population, the incarcerated and couples considering reproduction.
