Facial plastic and reconstructive surgical procedures are varied - from birth defects, accidents, or diseases to a patient's desire to minimize the signs of aging or improve a facial feature that has been bothersome for years. This growing demand for aesthetic procedures and reconstructive surgery has given rise to numerous new technologies and techniques in recent years. Keeping pace with such advances in this rapidly growing specialty can be challenging and this course will meet this need by reinforcing and enhancing skills and methods through lectures, video presentations, and interactive panel discussions with acknowledged experts in the field. Sponsored by the Department of Surgery at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, this two-day symposium is divided into multiple sessions, each one ending with a panel discussion to encourage participant interaction with a team of presenters. Facial surgery topics to be explored include revision rhinoplasty, ethnic rhinoplasty, craniosynostosis, otoplasty, profileplasty, facial trauma reconstruction, rib graft harvest technique, and facial paralysis. Facial rejuvenation topics include the pathophysiology of aging, fractional laser resurfacing, semi-permanent injectables, liquid silicone, and chemical peels.
