Detailed Description:
Provides an understanding of depression following childbirth which draws together current theories and a synthesis of key research with a framework for intervention. Gives guidelines for a 10-week program to 1) reduce symptoms; 2) improve maternal functioning; 3)address marital and partner difficulties; 4) deal with parent-infant difficulties; and 5) facilitate the use and development of social networks.

- List at least four psychosocial risk factors for Postnatal Depression (PND)
- Name four behavioral interventions with empirically demonstrated success for depression
- Explain the importance of challenging unrealistic expectations about parenting
- Describe the benefits of including fathers in PND treatment
