Detailed Description:

This dynamic program demonstrates an innovative model for assessing ADHD in the schools. In a departure from other approaches, DuPaul and Stoner depict assessment as a collaborative, problem-solving process that is inextricably linked to the planning of individualized interventions. Conducted on an ongoing basis, this process enables decisions to be reevaluated and interventions modified as the need arises. The video presents the case of Todd, an elementary school student with undiagnosed ADHD, whose teacher brings his disruptive behavior to the attention of the school psychologist and other members of the school's assessment team. Feeaturing helpful graphics that reinforce the points discussed, the program is structured around the goal of comprehensively evaluating Todd's behavioral functioning at school and at home. A range of crucial assessment techniques are considered, including parent interviews, behavior and academic performance rating scales, and direct observation. Further illumination is provided in an interview segment with world-renowned ADHD expert Russell A. Barkley.
