Detailed Description:
Scientific Congress Update is a certified, 60-minute highlights review program that will be distributed to healthcare practitioners via the web. The program puts into perspective information that is in the public domain following various scientific meetings and conferences from around the world. The program allows experts to provide insight on how this information will impact patient care. Experts also give a view on the current standard of care.
The program features a studio-based moderated discussion between 3 key opinion leaders (KOL's). A number of prerecorded interviews with investigators and news reporters attending the 2009 Skin Disease Education Foundation (SDEF) meeting are used to stimulate practical commentary and discussion by the studio panel of KOL's.
This exchange of ideas and lively panel discussion provides an engaging educational experience for healthcare providers unable to attend SDEF 2009.
The program focuses on 3 main areas:
- An overview of existing FDA-approved biologics
- New biologics
- Practical aspects of biologic therapy
- Describe findings from key clinical trials in the area of biologics for the treatment of psoriasis.
- Describe the pharmacologic action of new biologic agents.
- Discuss the proposed place in therapy of new biologic agents.
- Implement new treatment strategies in their clinical practice, to optimize patient care, using existing treatment modalities.
- Describe the long-term safety profile of the existing biologic agents and the advantages and disadvantages associated with their use.
- Describe future treatment strategies designed to improve patient quality of life and acceptability of biologic agents.
