Detailed Description:
This an intermedate level eithics courses for licensed Psychologists, Clinical Social Workers, Marriage and Family Therapists, and Mental Health Counselors. This course focuses on the ethical decision making with children and adolescents, basic developmental levels of children and adolescents, limits of confidentiality and parents’ rights in the counseling,ethical issues specific to counseling children and adolescents and the differce when counseling in a private setting compared to in an agency.
Learning Objectives:
Upon completion of this course valued at three continuing education credits, the learner will be able to:
1) Be knowledgeable of the steps in the ethical decision making process and apply these steps to professional practice.
2) Know basic developmental levels of children and adolescents, and how these stages of development affect therapy and the informed consent process.
3) Learn the limits of confidentiality and parents’ rights in the counseling process.
4) Ethical issues specific to counseling children and adolescents, and be aware of the profession’s stance on these issues.
