Detailed Description:
This educational activity is specifically designed for dermatologists, oncologists, and other clinicians, physicians-in-training, and health care professionals (nurses, pharmacists, physician assistants, etc.) who are involved and/or interested in the therapeutic management of patients with melanoma.
This Perspectives in Melanoma represents the 15th in this series of premier forums for discussion of the latest advances in melanoma research. It will utilize interactive programming and will host exciting new presentations by the world’s leading investigators, and presentations of new screening and staging modalities, as well as the range of emerging new management approaches, and clinical trial updates.
Objectives:
After successful completion of this course, participants should be able to:
1. Have increased awareness/knowledge regarding:
o New strategies for chemoprevention of melanoma
o The role of signal transduction pathways, such as RAF-MEK-ERK, and mutations in genes such as BRAF and NRAS, in melanoma pathogenesis
2. Have increased confidence in their ability to:
o Use new molecular strategies for melanoma screening and diagnosis
o Appropriately select, administer, and monitor response to immunotherapies for melanoma
o Make appropriate treatment recommendations for various subgroups of melanoma patients, such as those with brain metastases, or those with uveal or mucosal tumors
3. Increase the frequency (compared with current) with which they plan to:
o Use biomarkers and/or mutation status to assist in making treatment decisions for patients with melanoma
o Enroll patients in clinical trials of new targeted therapies or immunotherapies
