This half-day minifellowship is designed to provide physicians with evidence-based information on current issues and management strategies in the treatment of dyslipidemia. Through a live patient interview, lectures, case studies and open discussions, the small group format facilitates interaction between attendees and local and national opinion leaders. The goal of this Minifellowship is to enhance the knowledge of providers resulting in improved patient care. Topics have been selected based on extensive needs assessment data in the treatment of Dyslipidemia, including past participant surveys, clinical expert input, and practice guideline reviews.

Learning ObjectivesAs a result of attending this program, participants will be able to:
- Outline cholesterol targets and describe why many patients are not treated to goal.
- Discuss the role of elevated triglycerides and low high-density lipoprotein cholesterol in the overall patient profile, considering the impact of multiple lipid risk factors in cardiovascular disease risk.
- Review the accepted guidelines for treating multiple lipid parameters.
- Determine treatment options for the longitudinal care of dyslipidemia patients, including patients with diabetes, the metabolic syndrome, and other concomitant disorders.
- Analyze risk profiles of various medications alone and in combination, focusing on safety, tolerability and side-effect management.
- Describe how engaging patients in their own treatment goals leads to healthier lifestyle choices and medication adherence.
