The primary focus of this course is to present a "multidevice" approach for revascularization of patients with complex coronary and cardiovascular disease. The use of several core interventional technologies, specifically Rotablator, and stents in calcified, bifurcation and total occlusion lesions will be demonstrated. The use of novel new techniques like distal protection devices, septal ablation, valvuloplasty, percutaneous valve replacement, PFO/ASD closure, thrombectomy, and complex peripheral vascular intervention will be emphasized. Emerging problems such as unprotected left main disease, DES restenosis, bifurcation lesions, total occlusions, treatment of thrombotic lesions, carotid and peripheral lesions and adjunct pharmacotherapy will be emphasized by the faculty using live case presentations as a platform for discussion. Within the live case format, current topics will be presented to provide the interventional cardiologist and vascular interventionalist with "state of the art" information for managing patients as the dynamic field of interventional cardiology and vascular intervention continues to evolve.
Internists are faced with many new medical challenges every day. This course is specifically designed to update the practicing internist, primary care provider or specialist wanting to brush up on the timely advances in internal medicine. As novel treatments, both procedural and pharmaceutical, are increasingly being utilized for acute and chronic disease in inpatient and outpatient practices, many of these patients are being referred back to their primary care provider to continue their initiated course of care. This program will offer the provider a compendium of information that will better enable them to practice clinical medicine in 2008. We recognize that there are a number of CME courses offering varying updates in internal medicine, however, we wanted to create a course that will not only address these updates, but also assist the practitioner with evidenced-based concrete approaches to abnormal findings and provided information regarding new cutting edge technologies: -Managing Disease Processes -Comorbid Chronic Disease -Medical Conundrums -Handling Abnormals -Challenging Scenarios -New Technologies -New Diagnostic Modalities -New Therapeutic Modalities This material will be presented in lecture format, starting with a case presentation, followed by a didactic session highlighting the important issues, and concluded by offering reasonable therapeutic approaches that address the needs of our patients. Attendees will have ample opportunity to ask questions and interact with the experienced faculty of Mount Sinai School of Medicine. Discussions of challenging cases with and expert panel will take place several times during the program.
Pharmacotherapies serve as the mainstay of evidence-based treatment of major psychiatric disorders. Over the last decade, rapid advances in the field of psychopharmacology have taken place, leading to a broader array of available front line agents, as well as novel approaches for addressing side effect burden, treatment resistance, and relapse prevention. For community-based practitioners, keeping apprised of these advances remains a challenge, as sources of updated information are not always available in comprehensive, user-friendly formats. This course addresses the critical need for clinicians to be aware of the most current research findings in psychopharmacology and their implications for treatment. An authoritative review of evidence-based, contemporary psychopharmacology practices for a broad range of therapeutic areas will be presented. Leading subject matter experts will present content in both didactic and interactive case conference formats.
